May 10, 2004 Presidential Election – Do Not Vote For FPJ

May 10, 2004 Presidential Election – Do Not Vote For FPJ
April 26, 2004

I’m not much into Filipino politics. Maybe because it’s so messed up, or simply I have not enough time to dedicate to, or time to waste on it. Nevertheless, I still am concerned about the well-being of Mother Philippines. This well-being is going to be hugely influenced and affected by whomever the people choose as president this coming May 10, 2004 election. It doesn’t take one to be a university graduate to understand this, to know what’s right and what’s wrong, and what to do and what not to do. What one simply has to know is voting for greater good of the country, and not only for one's own survival.

If you’re ever are eligible to vote, are in the voting list, and are going to vote on the Philippine presidential election this May 10, 2004, please do yourself and your countrymen a big favour, please don’t vote for Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ). It’s a pathetic joke. Let me explain.

Think about the big picture here, the realistic world of the Philippines, at large, in greater presence, cooperation and partnership with the global community, not the make believe world of an untested actor.

Don’t keep the gullible and simple-minded Filipinos, from imagining and fantasizing all the time about a fictional hero who would one day appear and would miraculously save them from their pathetic and mediocre lives, and don’t let gullible and simple-minded person/actor like FPJ who thinks and is convinced he’s got what it takes to run the country, to take full advantage of the gullible simple-minded Filipinos.

If FPJ really cares for the well-being his countrymen, if he really loves his countrymen, he wouldn’t be depending his self-indulging macho-image, and popularity, to take advantage of the gullible simple-minded Filipinos or/and crazed fans, to abuse their trust, into blindly voting for him for the top job of the country that he doesn’t qualify for, and ruining the country even more.

If abuse leads to corruption, that unfortunately, has plagued Filipino society and government for decades in an endless chaotic cycle, then FPJ is part of the rotting political system, and if he ever becomes the president, he would, shamefully, be responsible for leading and plunging the country deeper in the dirt hole that’s it’s already in. It’s also in people’s and the country’s best interest not to encourage corruption by corrupting their minds with make-believe heroics that FPJ would miraculously perform if he ever becomes president, and elect for him. Those who are aware of this must take upon themselves, to take action, by simply not voting for FPJ and stop this cycle of corruption by preventing an element of corruption from ever maturing.

Think for example if he ever wins, do you think FPJ would be the actual person who’s going to run the country? Not likely. It’s going to be his countless advisors, other people who may have their own speicalized fields, who may in turn take advantage and control of FPJ’s position, life, and power to further their own agendas, depending who has more influence and weight on FPJ. In other words, FPJ would be a president in name only, but in reality a puppet controlled by his ‘advisors’.

Think about all the silly/offensive jokes that has been sprouting and cycling around about FPJ, especially in the Internet. It will only multiply and become worse if he ever becomes the president, like what happened to Erap. And such jokes, whether you like it or not, does reflect and bare a heavy burden, directly or indirectly, on the common Filipinos who relates to their ‘leader’, the president, their democratic country voted for. Such joke would ironically be a silly joke of Filipinos of themselves, making Filipinos silly people of the world.

I have nothing against FPJ personally, I only know him in the movies. I won’t argue that he’s a good and popular movie actor. But that’s mostly what he’s known for and what he’s good at, and he should stay that way, and remembered that way, for his own good. Entering politics for the presidency is his most unrealized big mistake. I am against this foolish mistake that can otherwise be prevented, if he just simply quits running or if not, that people won’t elect him at all. It could be that his simple-mindedness has over-estimated his ability, or his gullibility has convinced himself, and by the simple-minded Filipinos, or his self-indulging macho-image has over-inflated his super-ego beyond limits, that he strongly believes he can be a president.

This is a mistake, which FPJ may not already realize in his present state of mind, may not only ruin his career as an heroic movie icon, but more seriously, it may cripple the country even worse. Such mistake would surely back-fire on him by angered, and vengeful people who would feel cheated, and betrayed of their trust and expectations, and would have means, influence and power, of either forcing him to step down, and resign, with shame and dishonour, have another military coup/rebellion against his government, have him tried in criminal court, and put to jail (like a criminal, like Erap), or even worse. In addition, his name would forever be tarnished in Philippine history as one of the biggest political monsters, or worst presidents of the Philippines, a disaster not only for himself, but critically, also for the Philippines.

FPJ’s intension to run the country could be honest and good, but the president needs more than just good intentions and popularity in this modern sensible times. A president also needs intellect, wit, and credentials or proofs of competence, with job, professional education, training, skills, experiences, that relates to or enhances to the president job description. He shouldn’t be an exception from these natural requirements/pre-requisites of the president job description. He’s not more special than the other presidential candidates, who may be more qualified than he is. But the voting masses should know better, and realize this simple rational, and base their vote on, rather than gambling their lives and the country for an actor.

The fact that FPJ is a high-school dropout, that he has no political experience, no clear political agenda/views, no concrete budget and investment plans, that he is lousy public speaker, incompetent in debates, and solely plays/relies on peoples sympathy/emotions to win, speaks for himself.

The bottom line is, do you like an incompetent, less or unqualified person like FPJ to run the country or the best person who fits the job description? Filipinos should pursue excellence, for the best, for the most qualified, not only for themselves, but for their leaders as well, and not settle for mediocrity, the worst, and the least qualified --- Tell the world, Filipinos are not cheap, that you can vote wisely, for the best, for the greater good of the country, and not vote for FPJ.

*****

I’m simply saying for those people voting that they vote someone other than FPJ (the worst), which is another possible long story. It’s either I don’t have the time, especially it’s just a few weeks from the actual election day, I don’t have enough interest, to know all candidates, to provide solid decision and support for a particular candidate. For this I apologize for coming up with a slightly incomplete answer.

Supposed that I am in the shoes of one who can vote, I think I would likely vote for President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, because she is highly-educated, smart, has enlightened ideas of the West, but incorporating their benefits for the Philippines. She is a strong leader, very tested and she somehow, manage to improve the Philippines, as compared to the ERAPcrap administration.

I may be kind of bias here because she’s the only presidential candidate I met personally. She came to Toronto in 2002 and I manage to attend her welcoming and speech in Toronto Conventional Centre. I’m impressed. A leader doesn’t have to be macho/sexy-image type that media may want to cheaply insinuate, but she’s just fine, to be the president.

If you want to know more about what happened that day you can read my post below I posted here before (but can’t find or don’t have access in the Filipino.ca archive, posted a few days after her meeting on Jan 30, 2002 GMT –5/Toronto, ON), my opinion back then may slightly differ from my opinion now because of information circumstance. I didn’t edit it so it’s genuine copy of the original.

Galeng nyo talaga, mga performers, mga kababayan, pangulo at delegasyon!
Good Job, I’m proud of you!

I’m honored, privileged, and entertained to have attended the President Gloria Arroyo Macapagal meeting at the Toronto Convention Centre. It’s not like I get to meet a Philippine president everyday. Actually it’s very very rare. She’s the first president I get to see live, and shake hand with. The other president then was Corazon Aquino, which I saw so far at the Edsa tower that she’s just a tiny speck, at the Edsa place. She was surrounded by other officials and bodyguards and soldiers, and is therefore untouchable/unapproachable.

GMA
Indeed her physical size may be petit, but her character and pose shine brightly with gigantic intelligence, courage, kindness and faith, that makes a well suited economic, diplomatic, philanthropic, and charismatic leader of the Filipinos (definitely much better than Reap), and therefore I call her “Mahan an Angelo”

I listened to her speech. She has a powerful, firm, and dignified voice, and fluent in the National Language (also Kapampangan, and phrases of other Filipino languages-Illongo, Cebuano, etc…). She knows what she’s talking about. Although the way it is presented or said might hint some Filipino psyche, differing from the North American/Canadian psyche.

(I should have brought at least a tape recorder to record her speech, and listen to it again). The idea of dual citizenship is ok, if the needs do apply. Although, pratically, who wants to pay double taxes to two countries if even one country’s tax is high enough? Yeah, this has been planned for years now, is she the one who’s do something about it this time?

About the voting issue. There is pro and con. There is more con than pro. The pro side is that ex-Filipinos/overseas Filipinos, who are generally econmically better, more educated, and more ‘enlightened’, can guide some less advantageous Filipinos back home the ‘right’ way of running the country through their sponsored ‘enlightened’ leader, if such leader do exists. The big CON is that most ex-Filipinos/overseas Filipinos don’t even know the Philippines as a whole, they only know their regional, tiny spots, in the Philippines, and will only support those regional leaders whom they affiliate with based on their regional interests. As we already know, there are lots of Filipino Philippine regional communties here in Toronto. The voting in the Philippines will only create crevices within our Filipino communites. And even if we more fortunate and more educated than people back in the Philippines, we can’t speak for them if they can speak for themselves, even if we think it’s not ‘wise’. To them, we’re just ex-Filipinos minding their business. And it’s true, we’re in Canada.

About the $1billion investment in the LRT route to Bulacan (did I hear this right?). Personally, I think it’s better if the money goes to educating and training the street people, squatters, and the poor people to become productive citizens, to mobilize across the country, to the less developed and deforested lands, to plant trees, farm crops, irrigate the arable lands, settle uninhabited islands, and build roads and parks, also investing to the technological tools which makes these works more efficient and effective, to make the country more environmentally, culturally, and agriculturally rich and friendly. What’s the LRT gonna do if millions of people are jobless, poor and are stucked in the cities, like Manila hungry, sick, and dying and will commit crimes, illigalities, prostitutions, and dishonourable acts just to survive their cruel existence? Besides, the investment and development only affect the Manila/central Luzon area, the other regions of the country won’t benefit from this. I don’t know what the more educated GMA has on her mind…
About the Filipino Community Centre in Toronto project. It’s funny how GMA said “Hey(address to the treasurer-and name), make sure to take note of this, from the Malacanang Palace, I will donate $4000 to the Filipino Community Centre”. She’s just like talking casually, like nothing official. The Community Centre costs millions, but I’m sure her donation will go a long way, every penny counts.

In the end she said that even if there are hardships she will face it willingly with our support How does it feel to be ex-Filipinos eh? We’re so valuable that she has to personally say this to us.
Before this gets any more complicated (actually there’s more issues to discuss), I just want conclude by saying her visit strengthens the Filipino community here and bring closer ties of Canada and the Philippines.

~~~~~~~~~~
To be fair, and if given the chance, I would study the other candidates and would likely find another qualified-enough candidate, I hope. I wish you wise voting.
Mai 10, L'Élection 2004 Présidentielle - Ne votez pas Pour FPJ
Je ne suis pas beaucoup dans la politique philippine. Peut-être parce qu'il est ainsi sali vers le haut, ou simplement je n'ai pas assez de temps à consacrer à, ou heure de gaspiller là-dessus. Néanmoins, J'AM préoccupais toujours par le bien-être de la mère Philippines. Ce bien-être va être énormement influencé et affecté près qui
que ce soit que le peuple choisit comme président ce venir mai 10, élection 2004. Il ne prend pas un pour être un diplômé d'université pour
comprendre ceci, pour savoir ce qui est exact et ce qui est erroné, et ce qui à faire et ce qui à ne pas faire. Ce qu'on simplement doit savoir vote pour plus grand bon du pays, et non seulement pour sa propre survie.
Si vous êtes êtes jamais en droit de voter, soyez dans la liste de vote, et vont voter sur l'élection présidentielle philippine ce mai 10, 2004, veuillez se faire et vos compatriotes une grande faveur, svp ne votez pas pour Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ). C'est une plaisanterie pathétique. Laissez-moi expliquer.
Pensez à la grande image ici, le monde réaliste des Philippines, à grand, en plus grande présence, coopération et association avec la communauté globale, pas la marque croient le monde d'un acteur non essayé.
Ne gardez pas les Philippins crédules et simple-occupés, d'imaginer et de fantasmer toute l'heure au sujet d'un héros fictif
qui un jour apparaîtrait et les sauverait miraculeuxment de leurs
vies pathétiques et médiocres, et ne laissez pas la personne crédule et simple-occupéel'acteur aiment FPJ qui pense et est convaincu qu'il a ce qu'il faut
à la course au pays, pour profiter pleinement des Philippins simple-occupés crédules.
Si FPJ s'inquiète vraiment du bien-être ses compatriotes, s'il aime vraiment ses compatriotes, il ne dépendrait pas sa macho-image individu-se livrante, et popularité, pour tirer profit des Philippins simple-occupés crédules ouet ventilateurs fous, pour maltraiter leur confiance, dans voter aveuglément pour lui pour le travail supérieur du pays
pour lequel il ne qualifie pas, et ruinant le pays encore plus.
Si l'abus mène à la corruption, cela malheureusement, a infesté la société et le gouvernement philippins pendant des
décennies dans un cycle chaotique sans fin, alors FPJ fait partie du système politique de décomposition, et s'il devient jamais le président, il , honteusement, soyez responsable de mener et le plongement du pays plus profond dans
le trou de saleté qui est lui est déjà dedans. Il est également dans les personnes et le meilleur intérêt du pays
de ne pas encourager la corruption en corrompant leurs esprits avec
faire-croient le heroics que FPJ exécuterait miraculeuxment s'il
devient jamais président, et élisez pour lui. Ceux qui se rendent compte de ceci doivent prendre sur eux-mêmes, pour agir, en ne votant simplement pas pour FPJ et arrêtez ce cycle de la
corruption en empêchant un élément de la corruption de mûrir
jamais.
Pensez par exemple s'il gagne jamais, pensez-vous FPJ seriez-vous la personne réelle qui a aller courir le
pays ? Pas probablement. Ce va être ses conseillers innombrables, d'autres qui peuvent avoir leurs propres speicalized des champs, qui peut alternativement profiter et la commande de la position de
FPJ, la vie, et puissance à autre leurs propres ordres du jour, dépendant qui a plus d'influence et de poids sur FPJ. En d'autres termes, FPJ serait un président uniquement du nom, mais en réalité une marionnette commandée par ses conseillers de `.
Pensez à tout l'idiotplaisanteries blessantes qui a été poussant et faisant un cycle
autour environ de FPJ, particulièrement dans l'Internet. Il seulement se multipliera et s'aggravera s'il devient jamais le
président, comme ce qui est arrivé à Erap. Et de telles plaisanteries, que vous l'aimiez ou pas, reflète et découvre un fardeau lourd, directement ou indirectement, sur les Philippins communs qui rapporte à leur chef de ` ', le président, leur pays démocratique a voté pour. Une telle plaisanterie serait ironiquement une plaisanterie idiote des
Philippins d'eux-mêmes, faisant à Philippins les personnes idiotes du monde.
Je n'ai rien contre FPJ personnellement, Je le connais seulement dans les films. Je n'arguerai pas du fait qu'il est un bon et populaire acteur de
film. Mais est la plupart du temps ce pour à ce qu'il est connu et à ce
qu'il est bon, et il devrait rester de cette façon, et rappelé de cette façon, pour son propre bien. La politique entrante pour la présidence est sa grande erreur plus
latente. Je suis contre cette erreur idiote qui peut autrement être
empêchée, s'il stoppe juste simplement courir ou si pas, ces personnes ne l'éliront pas du tout. Il pourrait être que son simple-intelligence a surestimé ses
capacités, ou son gullibility s'est convaincu, et par les Philippins simple-occupés, ou sa macho-image individu-se livrante a distendu son super-ego au
delà des limites, qu'il le croit fortement peut être un président.
C'est une erreur, quel FPJ peut déjà ne pas réaliser dans son état d'esprit actuel, peut non seulement ruiner sa carrière comme icône héroïque de
film, mais plus sérieusement, il peut estropier le pays encore plus mauvais. Une telle erreur pétarderait sûrement sur lui par irrité, et personnes vengeful qui se sentiraient trichées, et trahi de leur confiance et espérances, et aurait des moyens, influence et puissance, de l'un ou l'autre le forçant à ramener, et démissionnez, avec la honte et le déshonneur, ayez un autre coup militairerébellion contre son gouvernement, ayez-le jugé dans la cour criminelle, et mis à la prison (comme un criminel, comme Erap), ou même plus mauvais. En outre, son nom serait terni pour toujours dans l'histoire philippine en tant
qu'un des plus grands monstres politiques, ou les plus mauvais présidents des Philippines, un désastre non seulement pour se, mais en critique, également pour les Philippines.
L'intension de FPJ pour courir le pays a pu être honnête et bon, mais le président a besoin plus que juste de bonnes intentions et
popularité en cela des périodes sensibles modernes. Un président a besoin également d'intellect, esprit, et qualifications ou preuves de la compétence, avec le travail, éducation professionnelle, formation, qualifications, expériences, cela se relie à ou augmente à la description des fonctions de
président. Il ne devrait pas être une exception à ces conditions normaleschoses nécessaires pour la description des fonctions de président. Il n'est pas plus spécial que les autres candidats présidentiels, qui peut être plus qualifié qu'il est. Mais les masses de vote devraient savoir mieux, et réalisez ce raisonnable simple, et basez leur voix dessus, plutôt que de jouer leurs vies et le pays pour un acteur.
Le fait que FPJ est un renvoi de lycée, qu'il n'a aucune expérience politique, aucun ordre du jour politique clairvues, aucuns plans concrets de budget et d'investissement, qu'il est orateur public moche, incompétent au cours des discussions, et joue seulementcompte sur la sympathie de peuplesémotions à gagner, parle pour se.
Le résultat inférieur est, faites-vous aiment un incompétent, moins ou personne incompétente comme FPJ pour courir le pays ou la
meilleure personne qui adapte la description des fonctions ? Les Philippins devraient poursuivre l'excellence, pour le meilleur, pour qualifiée, non seulement pour lui-même, mais pour leurs chefs aussi bien, et pas banc à dossier pour la médiocrité, le plus mauvais, et moins qualifié --- dites le monde, Les Philippins ne sont pas bon marché, que vous pouvez voter sagement, pour le meilleur, pour le bien plus grand du pays, et pas voix pour FPJ.
